CARPENTER, WILLIAM HOOKHAM; KEEPER OF PRINTS AND DRAWINGS, BRITISH MUSEUM (LONDON)

Letter from William Hookham Carpenter, the Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, to Dr. Ernst Becker agreeing that Miss Woodburn's collection of drawings should be purchased by the Museum.

11 Dec 1858

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/43

Carpenter writes in response to a letter from Dr. Becker, saying that he agrees that the drawings now in Miss Woodburn's possession should be bought for the British Museum. He has not shown Becker's letter to the Principal Librarian of the Museum as it is marked private, but he is confident that Panizzil will be in favour.

A copy of Becker's response (see VIC/ADDA10/85/43a) is written at the end of the letter.
