JOHN HULBERT GLOVER (1792-1860)
Letter from John Hulbert Glover, the Librarian at Windsor Castle, to Dr. Ernst Becker reporting on Charles Thurston Thompson's progress in photographing the Raphael drawings there.
22 Aug 1854Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/3
Glover reports that Thompson began his photography about a fortnight ago, but the weather has been unfavourable and he now needs a larger lens. He has probably photographed about 20 drawings, but Glover cannot say how they have turned out.
The negatives are stored away and Glover is reluctant to disturb them in Thompson's absence. He adds that Dr. Waagen has not been in Windsor as far as he is aware. He hopes that the rumours of Baron Stockmar's death are untrue.
