This watercolour shows a sleeping figure, probably Queen Victoria, dreaming of her reunion with Prince Albert. The watercolour is inscribed lower right: Louise 1862. Feb 10.
Queen Victoria's children often made cards and drawings for their parents as gifts on important dates, such as this watercolour executed by Princess Louise. 10 February 1862 was the Queen's first wedding anniversary since the death of Prince Albert on 14 December 1861. This drawing is housed in one of two volumes, compiled by Victoria and containing works presented to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert by their nine children.
