The Virgin and Child with the Infant Baptist

A set of four photographs reproducing details of a painting catalogued by Ruland (1876) as being then in the possession of Lord Ashburton. The painting is a copy of Raphael’s so-called ‘La Belle Jardinière’ (1508) now in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (inv. no.602). Showing the seated Virgin looking at the standing Child while supporting Him, with the Infant St John the Baptist kneeling down at her side holding a cross staff.
