An engraving after Raphael's so-called ‘Large Cowper Madonna’ (1508), when in the collection of the Earl Cowper, Penshanger, to whom the plate is dedicated. The painting is now in the National Gallery, Washington DC (inv. no.25). Not listed in Ruland (1876).
Showing the seated Virgin holding the Child Christ on her lap, who grasps His mother’s bodice while looking at the viewer.
