A photograph of a drawing by Raphael (c.1512) now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (inv. no.WA1846.202). The composition was engraved in the same direction by an anonymous engraver associated with the school of Marcantonio Raimondi, with the addition of a curtain and a window. The photograph shows the full-length Virgin, seated on a chair, in profile to the right, embracing the Young Christ who stands next to her with His left hand resting on His head.
