An engraving after a small painting which, according to the lettering on the print, was then in the collection of the Duke Franco Branciforte and reputed to be by Raphael. Lettered with production details.

The composition appears to be based on an engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi (RCIN 850934: possibly after a lost drawing by Raphael related to his painting of Madonna di Foligno (c.1512) now in the Pinacoteca Vaticana, Vatican City). A photograph of the Madonna di Foligno can be found at RCIN 850930.

Showing the Virgin sitting on clouds, with her hand resting on the right thigh of the Child, who looks down while grasping her mantle.
