This engraving is a copy in the same direction of a print by Marcantonio Raimondi (RCIN 850934: probably after a lost drawing by Raphael, related to the so-called ‘Madonna di Foligno’, a painting by the master (c.1512) now in the Pinacoteca Vaticana, Vatican City). With empty tablet at lower right. Not described in Bartsch. Photographs of the ‘Madonna di Foligno’ can be found at RCINs 850929, 850930.
Showing the Virgin sitting on clouds, with her hand resting on the right thigh of the Child, who ho looks down while grasping her mantle.
