An outline-etching after a painting currently untraced, anciently thought to be by Raphael. Lettered with titles and attribution of the painting to Raphael. Published in Landon, ‘Vie et Oeuvre de Raphael’, Paris 1803, plate 427. An engraving of this composition by Mario Cartaro (active c.1560-1620) can be found at RCIN 851129.
Showing the seated Virgin supporting the standing Christ Child on her leg, who holds an apple in His right hand; with the Infant Baptist standing at right and St Joseph looking on with his head resting on his hand at left; in an interior with a window on the right.
