Thomas Foster, Park Keeper
1864RCIN 2083795
Glass plate negative featuring four portraits of Thomas Foster (d. 1890), Park Keeper at Windsor Great Park. He is depicted in a velvet coat decorated with gold trimming and a top hat, holding a rifle. All images were taken at the photographer's studio.
Thomas Foster was appointed Park Keeper in April 1842, before moving to become Gate Keeper at Blacknest Gate, Sunninghill (until 1890).
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, apart from the bottom right which is represented by RCIN 2910335.
