Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

UNKNOWN PERSON

The Duchess of Kent's Mausoleum, Frogmore

c. 1861

RCIN 2084209

Glass plate negative of the entrance to The Duchess of Kent's Mausoleum in Frogmore. In the foreground, a pair of stone gate posts with statues leads to the domed building that contains a statue of the Duchess of Kent. Trees flank the building.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints form this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
