Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

UNKNOWN PERSON

The Duchess of Kent's Mausoleum, Frogmore

1860-65

25.5 x 30.5 cm (whole object) | RCIN 2079407

Glass plate negative of a view of Frogmore Gardens as seen across the eighteenth-century lake. The Mausoleum of the Duchess of Kent is visible through the trees in the background.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
