Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

UNKNOWN PERSON

The bridge of the Royal Mausoleum, Frogmore

c. 1863

RCIN 2084204

Glass plate negative of the bridge outside the Royal Mausoleum in Frogmore. The photograph was possibly taken shortly after the completion of the construction of the mausoleum following the death of Prince Albert in 1861. For another view of the bridge, see RCIN 2101511.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
