The Bedroom of Prince and Princess Frederick William of Prussia, Windsor Castle

1858

RCIN 2084169

Glass plate negative of the Lancaster bedroom arranged for Victoria, Princess Frederick of Prussia, later Empress of Germany (1841-1901) and and Prince Frederick of Prussia, later Frederick III (1831-88) at Windsor Castle. The couple spent their honeymoon here, following their marriage in 1858.

The room contains a four-poster bed. Above the bed are plaques featuring the initials of Princess Victoria and Prince Frederick.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2905605.
