Princess Helena (1846-1923) as a Chasseur de Vincennes
Mar 1856RCIN 2083640
Glass plate negative of a full length portrait of Princess Helena. The princess is standing facing the viewer, tilting her head downwards and gazing at the ground. She is dressed as a Chasseur de Vincennes for the tableau 'The Allies' performed at Windsor Castle.
The negative has been masked out, indicating the photographer's intention to crop the work to the smaller frame.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900067.
