'Princess Helena (1846-1923)'
c. 1852RCIN 2083173
Glass plate negative of a daguerreotype showing a full length portrait of Princess Helena, later Princess Christian of Schleswig Holstein (1846-1923). The princess is seated facing towards the camera and tilting her head. She holds a posy on her lap and wears a check dress paired with lace up shoes.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Although the original daguerreotype does not seem to exist in the Collection, it was possibly used as source material for a miniature by Guglielmo Faija (RCIN 420327).
