THOMAS RICHARD WILLIAMS (1825-71)

Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78)

21 - 21 Apr 1859

RCIN 2084329

Glass plate negative of a full-length portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78) seated, facing towards the camera. She poses with her hands in her lap. She wears a light coloured dress trimmed with lace, light coloured gloves, a strand of pearls and earrings. She wears the outfit she wore at her confirmation at Windsor Castle (see RCIN 2900174).

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900176.
