Prince Leopold, Princess Beatrice and Prince Arthur outside Osborne House

Jul 1858

RCIN 2084439

Glass plate negative of Princess Beatrice (1857-1944) seated in an open carriage drawn by the pony, Alderney. Prince Leopold, later Duke of Albany (1853-84) stands on the back of the carriage and Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) stands in the centre of the foreground, beside the carriage. A groom stands behind the group. Osborne house can be seen in the background.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900140.
