Prince Leopold, later Duke of Albany (1853-84), and Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942)
Jun 1860RCIN 2082588
Glass plate negative of a full length double portrait of Prince Leopold, on the right, and Prince Arthur, on the left. Prince Leopold is seated, facing a quarter to the left. He gazes down. Prince Arthur stands beside him, leaning against a plinth on the far left side of the frame, and looking towards the right. Prince Arthur places his right hand on his brother's shoulder. The siblings both wear Highland dress.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative does not seem to exist in the Collection, however variants from the same sitting are represented by RCINs 2900369-10.
