AFTER THOMAS RICHARD WILLIAMS (1825-71)
'Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942)'
c. 1856RCIN 2084348
Glass plate negative of a daguerreotype featuring a full length portrait of Prince Arthur, later Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) standing, facing towards the camera and gazing to the left. The prince leans on small circular table located to his right. He wears a kilt, sporran, a short-sleeved jacket and buckled shoes.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Although the original daguerreotype is historically missing, a print from this negative exists in the Collection (RCIN 2900087).
