Glass plate negative of a full-length group portrait of Mrs Edward Cowley with her arms around her two children Victoria and Arthur. Mrs Cowley is seated on a chaise longue with her son, Arthur. Victoria stands beside her mother. The two siblings look straight at the camera, while their mother gazes downwards.

Mrs Edward Cowley was probably the wife of Edward Cowley (1817-93), a Jäger (huntsman) employed by the Royal Household.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, however a variant is represented by RCIN 2906676.
