Glass plate negative of a full-length portrait of four men in what seem to be Balkan-style clothes. Three of them are standing, while the fourth is sitting on the ground. The two central figures wear loose breeches, jackets with waistcoats, and tasselled caps. The two sitters on either side appear in cloaks and pointed hats. It has been suggested that these are Montenegrin soldiers photographed in Cattaro (Kotor).
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2906745.
