In 1861, British born Charles Clifford (1819–61) published a two volume set of photographs depicting views of Spain, entitled 'Photographic Souvenir of Spain', Volumes I and II. The publication was produced under the patronage of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, the Queen and King of Spain, the Emperors of France, Russia and Austria, the Duc de Montpensier and others. The set comprises of a series of remarkable studies of the architecture, people and paintings of Spain.
