UNKNOWN PERSON

Constance Evelyn Wyndham (née Primrose), Lady Leconfield (1846-1939)

c.1866

Albumen print | 8.7 x 5.4 cm (image) | RCIN 2911482

This carte-de-visite photograph is unique in its presentation of the sitter. Rather than central to the image, the sitter, the Honourable Constance Primrose, is posed standing on the outside of a barred window.

Following Prince Albert's death in December 1861, Queen Victoria continued to collect and compile carte-de-visite albums. This photograph is from an album compiled initially by Prince Albert, and completed by Queen Victoria following his death.
