Correspondence relating to the planning and organisation of the Great Exhibition

GRANVILLE GEORGE LEVESON-GOWER, 2ND EARL GRANVILLE (1815-91)

11 Nov 1850. Lord Granville to Colonel Grey

11 Nov 1850

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (8 pages) (whole object) | RC/H/1/5/40

Letter regarding whether exhibitors should be required to state why the item is being exhibited, the decoration of the building and the great demand for tickets to view the building of the Crystal Palace. The contractors have suggested charging 5s per ticket with the proceeds going to the Workmen's Sick Fund but as there have been no accidents on site and the workmen are paid well and are healthy Lord Granville thinks that the Commission ought to share in the profits.
