Papers relating to Prince Albert’s personal life and enthusiasms

DR ERNST BECKER (1826-88)

Notes of Dr. Ernst Becker's response to Ludwig Gruner's letter of 29 December concerning the return of Raphael drawings the latter had sent from Dresden to be photographed for the Prince Consort.

4 Jan 1860

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (2 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/441

Brief notes written by Becker giving the gist of his reply to Gruner's letter: if possible, the drawings would be returned via that day's courier, but if the weather did not permit the [re-] photographing of the broken [glass plate negatives of the]sections of the salver (Schüssel), they would be sent with the next courier. He described the state of the glass plate negative of the drawing of child angels. The plate and prints would be sent soon.

Becker confirmed that Gruner could send his letter regarding Count Riesch's drawing (see VIC/ADDA10/85/430) to the Count. He had already thanked for the tracing of it in the Prince's name.
