'Memorandum for His Royal Highness, The Prince Albert, as Colonel of the Scots Fusilier Guards, with reference to the contrast for clothing the Regiment'. Colonel Berkeley Drummond reports that it is his duty, as Lieutenant-Colonel, to organise the contract for all clothing and necessaries for the soldiers. He states that he does his best to find the best quality at the fairest price and makes sure that it is not too expensive for the soldiers to replace. He encloses 'some queries and the answers relative to the prices paid for the clothing issued in 1849' (see VIC/ADD/A10/67).
