Letter from William Russell to Dr. Ernst Becker concerning a sketch of a fighting group that he purchased and thinks is an original by Raphael, and asking whether it is possible to see the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection at Windsor.

In pursuance of an enquiry he had made to Becker, Russell states that he bought his sketch of a fighting group from someone who did not claim it to be by Raphael; but Russell is in no doubt that it is, and is the prototype of Bartsch's facsimile, despite the prevalence of forgeries. He promises to have the drawing sent to Windsor to be compared with the facsimile. He goes on to enquire whether permission is ever given to see the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection; if so, he may be able to come to Windsor to see it. He regrets that the photographs [of his collection] were a failure; only the Lucretia was successfully reproduced.
