WILLIAM RUSSELL (1800-84)

Letter from William Russell to Charles Ruland regarding the latter's attempts to track down the photographer Monsieur Grillet in Naples.

30 Jan 1861

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (6 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/296

Russell regrets to report that his son has left Naples for Rome; he would otherwise have been willing to look for the photographer [Grillet]. Russell suggests getting the help of the English Consul in Naples, Mr Bonham. Russell's son could be the intermediary; being a keen amateur photographer he may even know the photographer in question. He was not well when he left for Rome, but Dr Pantaleone, a very able doctor in Rome, is optimistic about his recovery.
