Lake Price sends Becker a pendant to [his] portrait of the Prince of Wales; he is glad to hear from Mr Mitchell that the Queen approves of it. Although a lithograph, it compares well with engravings and is popular with the public.
He regrets that he could not take the photographs desired by the Prince Consort in Rome, because Cardinal Antonelli refused to allow pictures to be moved. But he has left his apparatus in Rome in the hopes of better facilities when he returns there in October.
He adds that on his way through Paris he saw the engraving being made of [his] large group at Osborne; it will be a chef d'oeuvre such as has never been seen by the public.
