Letter from Sir Robert Peel to Prince Albert reporting that he had seen Dr. Lyon Playfair on the subject of the Prince's memorandum 'in reference to the application of sewage matter to the purposes of agriculture'. He states that Playfair suggested that a Sewage Commission be established with Sir Henry De La Beche and others to carry out an experiment of the plan. He also mentions that Playfair has suggested the use of burnt clay as a means of filtration.
