RUDOLPH WEIGEL (1804-67)

Letter from Rudolf Weigel to Dr. Ernst Becker asking if he could borrow the volume of photographs of the Raphael drawings at Windsor made for the Prince Consort, with Becker's note of his response.

30 May 1857

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/15, 15a

(15) Weigel writes that he has learned from an article by Passavant in the Deutsches Kunstblatt that the Prince Consort has had a volume of photographic reproductions of drawings by Raphael printed for publication. As he is preparing a list of facsimiles of drawings by the most celebrated masters, he would like to borrow the volume for a short while, to add to his list. He adds that he will soon be sending Becker a new auction catalogue containing the collection of Count [name illegible] in Dresden. (15a) Note by Becker recording his reply that the photographs have not been published, but if they were, he would remember Weigel's request.
