(339) The publishers state that they have found the two Raphael paintings in question; they belong to the State and are not King Ludwig's private property. They are in the Cabinets for small pictures (their measurements follow). They are from Raphael's early period, of good quality and in good condition, and Piloty & Loehle will include them in their lithographic collection next year. But if the Prince would like copies earlier, they are prepared to have these made at once.

They have sent Dr. Becker and Mr Glover the prospectus for their forthcoming publication of King Ludwig's collection of Beauties in the Residenz in Munich, which include portraits of the Queen of Bavaria, several Princesses and four English ladies. If the Prince would like to buy it, they ask Becker to return the subscription soon so that they can send one of the first copies to the Prince. They invite Mr Glover to do the same (for the Queen), but point out that the promised payment from him (see VIC/ADDA10/85/338) has still not arrived.

(339a) At the top of the page Becker made a note of his reply: that the copies of the Raphael pictures should be commissioned at once, and that the Prince will subscribe to the Beauties.
