JOSEPH JULIUS KANNÉ (C. 1818-1888)
Letter from Joseph Kanné to Dr. Ernst Becker sending a book by Pontani/Pontanius requested by the Prince Consort.
29 Apr 1859Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/285
Kanné writes that he is sending the book by Pontani which the Prince Consort wanted; it was hard to find as it is no longer in print, but he could have sent it earlier had someone not forgotten to pass on the Prince's request to him. He encloses an offer from the bookseller, and informs Becker of the cost of the book. A note on the letter by Becker records that he has asked the Keeper of the Privy Purse to pay the sum to Kanné.
The author of the book is called 'Pontanius' in a note on the back of the letter.
