Letter from Joseph Cundall to Charles Ruland sending a photograph of Mr Sutton's 'St Michael' and reporting on his progress with photographing Raphael pictures in other collections.

Cundall writes that he is sending a photograph of Mr Sutton's 'St Michael' which he thinks has come out well. He is about to go and photograph Andrew Fountaine's drawings. He reports that the cartoon at the Foundling Hospital, the drawing at Holkham and the drawing at Oxford which Ruland mentioned have all been covered with a yellow varnish which makes them impossible to photograph, despite his and Downes's attempts with different processes. The Oxford drawing of a horse's head is in the Taylorian Institution. He adds that a back study for a figure has already been photographed for the Prince, and asks whether he should write again to the Earl of Dudley, from whom he has not yet received permission [to photograph his Raphael pictures].
