Erskine writes that he is sending a box containing the negatives and prints of the two pictures mentioned in Ruland's letter to him of 22 August, addressed to F.B. Alston at the Foreign Office, whom he has asked to have it delivered to Buckingham Palace.
He encloses Denier's bill for the photography (see VIC/ADDA10/85/557). He states that he is about to go on leave from St Petersburg and therefore asks Ruland to forward the album for the Hermitage through Sir John Crampton, who will return to St. Petersburg shortly.
A note by Ruland records that he replied on 1 November acknowledging receipt.
The album is presumably the album containing photographs of the Raphael drawings at Windsor mentioned in VIC/ADDA10/85/554.
