H THOMAS (ACTIVE 1864)

Letter from Herr Thomas, photographer in Coblenz, to Dr. Ernst Becker saying he has sent the negative of a Raphael drawing in Schloss Rheineck to the Prince Consort.

22 Dec 1859

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/434

Herr Thomas states that on the instructions of Herr von Stockmar he has posted to the Prince Consort the photographic reproduction he has made of a Raphael drawing [belonging to Herr Bethmann Hollweg] at Schloss Rheineck in Coblenz. The plate is true to the original, which has deteriorated so much with age that the drawing can scarcely be seen, but the reproduction is as good as possible, and is about half life size.

Becker added a postscript noting his reply that the plate arrived safely, and that he told Thomas to send the bill to Ruland.
