GUSTAV WAAGEN (1794-1868)
Letter from Gustav Waagen to Dr. Becker asking for payment for [Gustav] Schauer, the Berlin photographer who photographed the Raphael works in his museum.
19 Mar 1858Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/367
Waagen reports that to his displeasure he is being pressed for payment by the photographer [Gustav] Schauer for the photographs Waagen sent to Becker a few weeks ago (see VIC/ADDA10/85/366). He asks Becker to arrange the payment as soon as possible, as his own small budget cannot cover it. He had thought Schauer, who has a large business, would be able to wait until completion of the project.
Waagen says that he cannot miss this opportunity to express his surprise and pleasure at the Princess Royal's excellent eye and taste for art; he was delighted to receive greetings from the Prince Consort and the Queen through her.
