GEORGE EDWARD ANSON (1812-49)

Letter from George Anson to Prince Albert

10 Oct 1844

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (8 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/F/21/51

Letter from George Anson to Prince Albert expressing concerns about Prince Albert's [and Queen Victoria's] plan to purchase the Osborne estate. He writes that he believes the Royal couple's affections will be divided among too many different properties and that it would not be good for the children. However he also states that if 'Clark' recommended Osborne for Prince Albert's health then he may be able to get over his objections. He also mentions that if Sir Robert Peel was to add an extra £20,000 to Prince Albert's income, and Brighton Pavilion was to be demolished, they would be in a better position to purchase Osborne. Last page has been cut in half.
