FRIEDRICH CULEMANN
Letter from Friedrich Culemann to the British Envoy to Hanover denying knowledge of a work by Raphael in Hanover and enclosing a catalogue of the Söder (Count Brabeck) collection, which includes works attributed to Raphael.
7 Dec 1859Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (2 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/426
Senator Culemann writes that he knows of no genuine work by Raphael in Hanover, unless the picture in question is one of those purported to be by Raphael which appear in the catalogue, which he encloses, of Count Stolberg's collection (formerly belonging to Count Brabeck at Söder). There is also a small picture of John the Baptist which is attributed to Raphael and is in the possession of Baroness von der Decken, a fine work painted on copper.
