BARON ERNEST STOCKMAR (1823-86)
Letter from Ernst Stockmar to Dr. Ernst Becker reporting on lack of progress photographing the Raphael drawings.
22 Jan 1859Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (2 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/386
Stockmar writes to Becker in answer to two letters from him, reporting that the dull weather has prevented any progress on photographing the Raphael drawings. Herr Olfers will probably send the photographs awaited from him soon, but he is slow. The glass-plate negatives of these can be bought for 5.20 [thalers]. Photographs of the pictures and drawings in private hands will be seen to. One picture (a Carthusian monk) now belongs to the Princess of Prussia, who is going to send the Prince a plate and a photograph of it.
In a postscript, Stockmar says he is sending Becker the ?mirror glass with silver foil, as agreed, by today's courier.
