Lenoir thanks Becker for his letter of 12 December in reply to his own letter (see VIC/ADDA10/85/358). His suspicion that Herr Albert had not sent the photograph [of the work by Raphael in Lenoir's collection] to Becker is confirmed, and he therefore encloses a copy of it (not present). He reiterates his gratification at Herr Grosse's article [about Lenoir's collection], which makes him feel he has contributed towards the awakening of art appreciation in Germany.
Becker notes at the top of the letter that he sent the photograph of the supposed work by Raphael to Sir Charles Eastlake (see his response, VIC/ADDA10/85/362), and that he replied to Lenoir on 26th December thanking him but repeating the opinion he expressed in Munich that the picture was not by Raphael.
