Letter from Charles Clifford to Ruland promising to carry out the Prince Consort's commission when he returns to Madrid and offering to send a Roman archaeological specimen to the Prince.

6 Jan 1860

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/324

Clifford acknowledges receipt of Ruland's letter (see VIC/ADDA10/85/322). He is in Alcantara, where he is photographing the remains of the famous Roman bridge. He will carry out the Prince Consort's wishes when he returns shortly to Madrid. The engineer of the works at Alcantara has given him a Roman stone clamp from the bridge, a rarity which he offers to send to the Prince.
