1 Nov 1843Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (2 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/F/21/5
Copy letter from Prince Albert to Sir Robert Peel thanking him for his previous letter regarding Osborne estate (see VIC/MAIN/F/21/1). He states that he [and Queen Victoria] are interested in the property and that he has enclosed a list of further enquiries (see VIC/MAIN/F/21/6). He also mentions that it may be 'awkward' for the Queen to purchase a leasehold property and that if a footpath runs through the grounds it would be 'fatal to the project'. He also asks for coloured ordnance maps so that he may see the land that belongs to the estate more clearly.
