CARL RULAND (1834-1907)
Copy letter from Charles Ruland to W.B. Tiffin concerning the Woodburn collection of drawings, which Miss Woodburn does not wish to be photographed.
10 Apr 1860Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (4 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/ADDA10/85/111
Ruland thanks Tiffin for the information in his letter (see VIC/ADDA10/85/110), and states that he does not wish for special permission to see the Woodburn collection of drawings, which will have to be on view for all at the time of the sale.
He adds that the Prince Consort would have liked permission to have the Raphael drawings photographed for his collection, which is nearly complete. But he understands that Miss Woodburn has refused permission on the grounds that this would reduce the value of the collection, although all other owners of Raphael drawings have allowed theirs to be photographed.
