Copy letter from Charles Ruland to Ludwig Gruner concerning the return of Count Riesch's Raphael drawing.

Ruland writes to say that as he does not know Count Riesch's address, he has sent the latter's Raphael drawing, together with the Prince Consort's letter to him (see VIC/ADDA10/85/446), to Gruner so that he can forward them to the Count. The Prince has decided to send the Count the negative so that he can be certain that his permission for the drawing to be photographed cannot lead to anything further. It will be sent by the next courier, with a number of copy prints.

Ruland tells Gruner that his wish to have a photograph of the Riesch drawing for the Royal Collection in Dresden is mentioned in the Prince's letter to Count Riesch; the Prince could not himself take the decision to give him one, but no doubt Gruner will be happy to make the exchange the Prince has suggested to the Count.

Ruland is very sorry that the negatives that were sent to Gruner arrived in a damaged state, especially as so much care was taken in packing them. He hopes to hear very soon from Gruner that the drawing and the negative [for Count Riesch] have arrived safely.
