Copy letter from Charles Ruland to Artaria & Co., Vienna, reminding them of the order placed with them in December 1859 for photographs of drawings in the collections of Count Esterhazy and Archduke Karl, and sending a list of what is required.

Ruland explains that now that spring and lighter days are approaching, he wishes to remind Artaria of the commission he gave them on behalf of the Prince Consort in December. He is sending them again the list of photographs required by HRH, as a few more have been added. The list begins with Passavant Volume III, page 204, no. 580, an ink sketch of a woman holding a child, kneeling, with a drawing of a man lying down on the reverse. This is in the possession of Prince Esterhazy. Then, in the possession of Archduke Karl, drawings listed in Passavant Volume II page 508 and following: 203. Small St John, worshipping (mounted with sketches by Leonardo da Vinci) 222. Venus (Ariadne) reclining in the lap of Bacchus, in red [chalk] [Rothstein] 225d. Grandiose temple, riders, fleeing women 225a. Seated woman, dreaming, youth, Apollo in his chariot above 233. 3 naked striding men (on the reverse of a sheet with Madonnas) 238. Man striding forward; chest and arm. (Reverse of a sheet with 2 naked young men by a hill) 242. 2 men supporting a third. (Reverse of a sheet with a Caritas) 242h. Bearded man (red [chalk]) [Rothstein] 242i. Seated man (red [chalk]) [Rothstein] 242l. Head, 3 hands, 3 feet. 242m. Pegasus and 6 horses. The last item on the list is the Marys on the steps, listed in Bartsch XIV no. 45.
