LUIGI FABRI (C. 1778-1835 OR LATER)

The Sea Victory at Ostia [from the Stanza dell'Incendio]

c.1798-1825

Engraving with etching | 66.2 x 87.3 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 852844

A print reproducing the fresco of 'The Victory at Ostia' painted on the east wall of the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican. Proof before all letters. With pencil annotations. The fresco is now generally thought to have been designed by Raphael, but his direct involvement in the execution (dated c.1514-15) is subject of much debate.
