A photograph of a drawing in the Kestner Museum, Hanover, which is a copy after a drawing in the Devonshire collection (inv. no.150), attributed to Giovanni Francesco Penni. The Devonshire work is considered a preparatory drawing for the almost entirely destroyed fresco 'The Resurrection' painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the basamento of the thirteenth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican.
According to Dacos (see Bibliographic References), the basamento paintings of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican were executed in grisaille and imitated bronze reliefs.
