AFTER A WORK ATTRIBUTED TO RAPHAEL (1483-1520)

The Last Supper

c.1853-76

Facsimile | 21.9 x 32.4 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 853647

A facsimile of a pen and ink drawing catalogued by Ruland (1876) as likely reproducing the first sketch for the fresco The Last Supper painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the thirteenth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican.

As Ruland notes, the drawing reproduced in this facsimile differs from the finished fresco in a number of ways. The scene reproduced in the facsimile is in reverse.
